Andile Gumbi, a talented South African actor, dancer, singer, and model, passed away on October 25, 2019, at the age of 36. Born on September 10, 1983, in Durban, Gumbi was best known for his role as "Zweli Ngubane" in the popular television series "Isibaya". He was married to Hlengiwe Ngcongo.

Gumbi's career in the entertainment industry began in 1999 when he became a member of the Abanqobi Musical Group. In 2004, he starred in "The Lion King" in Australia and later lent his voice to the role of "adult Simba" in Disney's long-running Broadway stage musical "The Lion King". He also performed in various theatre productions such as "Lalela", "Ntsikana", "Nkonyeni High", and "Dance Through Me". Gumbi wrote the short film "Garden of Gethsmane" for Roar-Shorts.

However, Gumbi faced controversy in 2016 when he was arrested and charged with assault for allegedly attacking and punching his wife, Hlengiwe Ngcongo, and dragging her on the floor. He spent Freedom Day in jail and then appeared in the Randburg Magistrate's Court. He was later released after his court appearance.

On October 22, 2019, Gumbi was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack while in Israel for a theatre production. He was treated in the ICU at the Shaare Zedek Medical Centre for three days while in a coma. Unfortunately, he passed away on October 25, 2019.

In a tragic turn of events, in December 2019, Gumbi's four-year-old son allegedly shot himself in the lower body while handling a firearm. The child was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Gumbi's death was a great loss to the South African entertainment industry, and his contributions will always be remembered.
