Mandla Hlatshwayo, a South African actor and media personality, passed away on May 14, 2017, at the age of 40. He was born on November 24, 1976, in Soweto, Transvaal, South Africa, and was known for his exceptional performances in popular television serials such as The Lab, Generations, and Backstage.

Mandla's life was marked by both triumph and tragedy. He was the son of Chiawelo and had one sister, Maggie Ntombela, and a brother, Sipho. However, his father was killed in a robbery years ago. Mandla was married to Amanda Mabuso and had five children. Nevertheless, after his death, a dispute arose between his estranged wife Amanda and girlfriend Mami. Moreover, a 25-year-old girl named Kombi Ngubane from Protea North in Soweto came forward and claimed to have a child with Mandla.

The news of his untimely death shocked the nation. Mandla was shot in the heart during a robbery at Meli Lounge Pub in Pimville, Soweto. He and his friend, Oupa "Chom-Chom" Duma, had attempted to rescue two women who were being robbed of their mobile phones by a group of men. Unfortunately, they were both shot dead by the robbers.

The following day, four people were arrested for the incident, charged with possession of firearms and drugs. Mandla was laid to rest with a tombstone worth R70,000.
