Mark Pilgrim, a beloved South African media personality, passed away on March 5th, 2023, at the age of 53. Mark was born on September 20th, 1969, in South Africa, where he spent his entire life. He is survived by his wife and children, who mourn the loss of a loving husband and father.

Mark's career in the media spanned over two decades, during which he became a household name in South Africa. He hosted numerous radio and television shows, including the popular 5FM, Eastrand-oos Rand stereo, 94.7 Highveld Stereo, 94.5 Kfm, Hot919, and Hot102.7fm. He was also the host of the first season of Big Brother Africa, both seasons of Big Brother South Africa, and the MNET game show Power of 10.

Mark was diagnosed with stage 3 testicular cancer in 1988, which eventually spread to his lungs and kidneys. After nine months of chemotherapy, he was declared to be in remission. Despite the challenges he faced, Mark became an ambassador for CANSA (Cancer Association of South Africa) and a friend of the Reach for a Dream Foundation, using his platform to raise awareness about cancer and the importance of early detection.

In February 2022, Mark received the devastating news that he had cancer again, this time stage 4 lung cancer. He fought the disease with courage and determination, never losing his sense of humor or his passion for life. He continued to inspire others with his positive attitude and unwavering spirit until his final days.

Mark Pilgrim will always be remembered for his infectious smile, his kind heart, and his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and fans. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and inspiration that will continue to touch the lives of many for years to come. Rest in peace, Mark Pilgrim.
