Gloria Bosman (1973-14 March 2023) was a highly regarded South African jazz singer and songwriter. Born in Soweto, she began her singing career in church choirs before being discovered by Felicia Marion of the band Joy, who used her in a production at the Market Theater in 1993. She was then awarded an opera scholarship from the Tshwane University of Technology.

Bosman's debut album, Tranquility (1999), won the Sama prize for best newcomer, and she was named the Standard Bank Young Artist for Jazz in the year 2000. Her album Nature's Dance (2004) received six Sama nominations and she was named best female songwriter. She went on to receive two Kora and eleven more Sama nominations, and released five albums, including Emzini in 2006.

Bosman was a regular performer at the National Arts Festival, including in the 2020 Virtual National Arts Festival. Her powerful voice and innovative interpretations of jazz standards made her a beloved and influential figure in the South African music scene.

Sadly, Gloria Bosman passed away at the age of 50 after a short illness. Her contributions to jazz music and South African culture will be greatly missed by fans and fellow musicians alike.
