The second child in a family of four, Siyabonga Zubane was born on the 5th of October 1998 in Alexandra, Soweto. He grew up in Alexandra and Thembisa townships.

Siyabonga Zubane was born into an artistic family. One of his brothers- Thabiso Zubane is a gifted musician who sang for Bana Bama Afrika Tap and Clap the Choir.

After matriculating from Jiyana Secondary school in Tembisa, Siyabonga Zubane joined the Tshwane University of Technology in 2018 to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Performing Arts and Dance.

Siyabonga Zubane landed his first television role when he was 19 years old after being cast as Bhungezi on Mzansi Magic's Isibaya. Although it was a one-day character, the late actor revealed that he did it for the experience and it helped him get into the acting industry.

His next major role was on Mzansi Magic's telenovela Gomora where he played the character of Sdumo- a notorious carjacker and criminal who would do anything for money. Sadly, this was his last role too.

Siyabonga Zubane’s role as Sdumo enabled him to gain national stardom since Gomora is one of the most-watched television shows in the country. His performance was praised and it is no doubt that the actor’s star was on the rise.

The young gifted actor passed on the 7th of May 2022. His housemate discovered his unresponsive body in his bed in his house in Soweto. He was reportedly rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Siyabonga will be sadly missed by his family and friends, but his memories will live on forever in our hearts. May he rest in peace.
